Where do I park?

Parking permits are required every day of the week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

In most lots, paid parking is available in Visitor (V) parking spaces. The Gilman Parking Structure has the largest availability of V spaces. To pay for parking, visit the permit machine, or use the Parkmobile app. Visit the Transportation Services Site to see weekday and weekend rates.

How do I get in and around campus?

Several mass transit routes serve the campus and surrounding area. Whether you’re arriving by bus, the COASTER train or the Blue Line Trolley that connects our La Jolla campus to the local San Diego community and beyond, we’ve got you covered. Check out all the ways to get to campus.

Once you’re on campus, our campus maps, waypoint indicators and Triton Transit shuttles can help ensure you hit all the campus highlights and get where you’re going.

We also have shared electric scooters to help you get across campus quickly. Approximately 200 bikes and 200 e-scooters are available at locations throughout campus. Use the Spin app to conveniently locate, unlock and pay for a ride. Learn more about Spin at UC San Diego.

What should I wear?

If you’re attending the Men’s Basketball game, make sure to wear white to help us achieve a total whiteout within the arena and show our scholar-athletes your support. At all other events, the attire is casual and comfortable, unless otherwise noted. It’s best to dress in layers, as temperatures in La Jolla can change quickly. Be prepared for sunny days and chilly evenings.

What are the campus substance use policies?

UC San Diego is a smoke and tobacco-free campus. Any type of drug use, including marijuana, is illegal on campus. Consuming alcohol outside of permitted venues is also illegal. UC San Diego police will be monitoring campus to ensure compliance with these policies.

Are dogs allowed?

Any dog on campus must be on a leash at all times. Dogs (excluding service animals) are not allowed in classrooms, LionTree Arena, on RIMAC Field, or the Triton Track & Field.
